Master of Science in Nursing Sigma Theta Tau
Eta Chi chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International Sigma Theta
Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing, provides leadership,
and scholarship in practice, education, and research to enhance
the health of people worldwide. Eta Chi is a part of an international
community of 260,000 nurses in more than 70 countries dedicated
to scholarly activities, excellence in clinical practice, and
leadership at all levels of nursing practice. A goal of Sigma
Theta Tau is improved health care for all clients. The International
Headquarters, which includes the Virginia Henderson International
Library, is located in Indianapolis.
Eta Chi members have visited the library and international offices.
Chapter activities include annual induction ceremony in the
spring. Juniors, seniors, graduate students, and community nurses
meeting membership requirements are inducted into the
local chapter, Eta Chi.
Leadership abilities, GPA, professional practice, and creativity
are criteria for membership. A research conference is held yearly,
providing opportunities for nurse researchers to display research
results. Scholarly activities are regularly offered for members.
Research grants are available to members. Newsletters keep membership
current about local and international Sigma Theta Tau news.
Membership dues include the following publications: Journal
of Nursing Scholarship; Reflections on Nursing Leadership; and
Excellence, and a customized member newspaper available in education,
clinical and administrative versions. Eta Chi supports the work
of the International Honor Society of Nursing.
